Chapter 12 - Fear

[Muchangpo Beach]

YongHwa: *wide-eyed* Oh.My.God.

JongHyun: Isn't there a little too many people in this beach now? Hyung, look at the amount of people in between the two split waters. How are we ever going to find somebody whom we're not even sure if she's here?

YongHwa: Argh... if we could have flagged a cab faster, then we wouldn't have lost sight of the bus. Then, we could've easily followed the bus rather than heading straight to this beach!

JongHyun: So, where do we start finding?

YongHwa: I don't know... my instincts tell me that she would like to be alone now. But... there is so many people here that it is impossible to find an empty place. So... let's just start from the place where there is most crowded. The road in between the splitted waters!

JongHyun: I honestly hope your instincts are true. *feeling hopeless*

YongHwa lead JongHyun to the sand path between the two seas. Families, children, grandparents chasing after the running toddlers, it was pure chaos. YongHwa and JongHyun split when they were at the sand path to quickly search for SeoHyun. Both of them had no clue whether or not SeoHyun will even be here or not. Silently hoping for luck, YongHwa goes to everywhere his instincts tell him. Everywhere he goes, he seemed to have seen SeoHyun, but it will always turn out to be another person. After many searches, YongHwa starts to feel hopeless. He has almost reached the other end of the sand path and he still couldn't find her. Where could she be?

YongHwa starts to give up and sits hopelessly on the wet sand. He pants hardly after running around for so long. He looks out to the beautiful sea. The sea is so calm despite the amount of people waddling around in it. The sound of waves are like calming melodies to his ears. He told himself that maybe his instincts wasn't right after all. SeoHyun isn't here after all. Suddenly, a small boy came crashing into YongHwa after running crazily away from the sea waters.

YongHwa: Oh! Yah! What's wrong little kid?

Kid: Hyung! Help me! There's a red ghost in the sea!

YongHwa: *feeling absurd* BOH? A red ghost? Are you sure?

Kid: *hysterics* It is TRUE! THERE! THERE! IT'S FLOATING ON WATER! *pointing behind YongHwa, the other side of the split sea*

YongHwa: *curious* It better be real kid. Come on... let's see it. *stands up*

Kid: Hyung! There! Can you see that red floating thing? There! *pointing to far place in the sea water*

YongHwa: Where...? What? That over there? *pointing to where the boy says*

Kid: YES HYUNG! That! I was swimming alone there just now even though my omma said don't go too far. I never knew I would see a water ghost! Will it come after me?!

YongHwa: Why do you think it is a ghost? It might just be plastic bags... I think you are hallucinating. Don't worry!

Kid: NO! You've got to believe me! The ghost has long hair! It is a ghost! *starts to sob*

YongHwa: What?! Long HAIR? *starts to suspect something*

Kid: Yes... hyung, you must believe me!

YongHwa: That means it is a girl?

Kid: Of course it must be a girl ghost! It has long hair!

YongHwa: OH MY GOD! HYUN AH! *starts running towards the water*

Kid: Hyung! Where are you going?!

YongHwa knew by heart that the 'red ghost' was SeoHyun. Red because the wool dress she wore this morning is pinkish in color. It must be her. YongHwa couldn't believe his eyes when he was actually seeing SeoHyun drifting away to sea. She was so far away that he is not even sure if he could bring her back. All he know is he needs to save her. But, YongHwa could not understand her. Why did she do this? Did she really wanted to die? Did she want to die without anybody realising? Compared to SeoHyun slowly drifting away by the waves, YongHwa was faster. He was swimming with all his might along the current of the waves, so he could reach SeoHyun. The only unbelievable thing was: SeoHyun was still conscious when he grabbed hold of her. She was floating with her face above the surface of water. Her face was a little wet... but YongHwa couldn't differentiate whether it was the sea water or tears from her eyes. He didn't have time for that. They were so far away from shore that he is afraid they both might drift out too far away to swim back. So, the moment he grabbed SeoHyun, YongHwa started headed back to shore with all his might. SeoHyun didn't even make a noise when he found her or dragged her back to shore. She was like a doll, ready to be manipulated.

[Back at shore]

YongHwa: *screaming* HELP! HELP ME!

*people start to surround them*

YongHwa: Help this girl! CALL AN AMBULANCE NOW! PLEASE!

SeoHyun: *in a daze*

YongHwa: Hyun ah! Are you okay? Why are you like this?! *shaking her shoulders*

SeoHyun: *no reaction, just looking at the sky and shaking due to the freezing weather*

YongHwa: Hyun ah... just wait a little while. The ambulance will be here any moment soon.

Then, YongHwa pull SeoHyun up into his arms. It was all YongHwa wanted to do at that moment. To keep her warm and safe in his arms. It was all he could do, anyway.

[Emergency room]

YongHwa: *calling JongHyun* Yobuseyo... JongHyun ah... hyung-mida.

JongHyun: Oh HYUNG! Where did you go? I couldn't find you.

YongHwa: I'm a the hospital right now. I found her. Come to Muchangpo Hospital now.

JongHyun: I understand. I'll be right there! *hastily cutting off the line*

-end-

Doctor: Erm... SeoHyun-shii's family?

YongHwa: Erm... no. I'm her friend. How is she now?

Doctor: Well, physically... I think she has nothing wrong except for having a little cold. But... I think she has a bigger problem... mentally.

YongHwa: What do you mean?

Doctor: I wonder if she has been having problems recently?

YongHwa: No... not that I know of. She is our manager actually, and she is living with us. We're all doing fine recently and she shouldn't have any problems.

Doctor: Well, to our findings, Ms.SeoHyun isn't replying to any of us. Do you have any clue on why is she like this?

YongHwa: I don't know if this counts... but this morning she received a letter from a sort of secret admirer or something. After that, she started acting weird like this. The next time I found her, she's drifting away in the big ocean. I don't really know what has happened to her.

Doctor: Okay. Have you contacted her family members?

YongHwa: No...

Doctor: I suggest you better contact her family members. She seems severely disturbed. I will refer her to our psycologist for further treating.

YongHwa: *bowing 90 degrees* Kamsahamnida.

YongHwa: *calls MinHyuk* Yobuseyo... MinHyuk ah... hyung-mida.

MinHyuk: Oh... what is it, hyung?

YongHwa: Can you please search for SeoHyun's handphone at home and bring it to Muchangpo Hospital?

MinHyuk: Why? Are you guys in trouble again?

YongHwa: Not me, but her. Come quickly. Bring JungShin along if you like.

-end-

[SeoHyun's Ward]

YongHwa: Oh... JongHyun, you are here.

JongHyun: Hyung, how is she? What happened? *looking worried*

YongHwa: She's okay... except for a cold. I found her drifting away in the sea... that's all. *looking tired*

JongHyun: You mean, she wanted to die?

YongHwa: Nobody knows JongHyun. We can only assume.

While waiting for MinHyuk and JungShin, the two boys were silent. They both are trying to figure out why is SeoHyun acting this way. What is the cause of her problem? When MinHyuk and JungShin came, they both were too shocked to see SeoHyun unresponsive to any of their calls. It was as if she was living in a world of her own.

YongHwa: MinHyuk ah... have you brought her handphone?

MinHyuk: *passing over the phone* Here it is.

YongHwa: I'm going to have to dial up her parents number. The doctor said she is severely disturbed and she needs her parents now. *searching for Mr.Seo's number in her contacts*

Mr.Seo: Yobuseyo? SeoHyunnie!

YongHwa: Erm... I'm not SeoHyun. My name is Jung YongHwa.

Mr.Seo: What? Where is SeoHyun? Why do you have her phone?

YongHwa: Mr.Seo, I know you're her father and this might sound totally unbelievable. But, SeoHyun is currently in Muchangpo Hospital. I need you and Mrs.Seo to be here as quickly as possible. I will explain everything further when the both of you reach here. She needs you now. Please make it.

Mr.Seo: What?! She's in a hospital? What happened? *worried sick*

YongHwa: Mr.Seo... I said I will explain everything when you arrive. Please just come first. Goodbye.

-end-

MinHyuk: Hyung... didn't SeoHyun said not to call her parents?

YongHwa: We have no choice.

When Mr. and Mrs. Seo arrive, they totally ignored everything except for their beautiful daughter who is lying in daze on the hospital bed. Mrs.Seo started sobbing uncontrollably when she realise that SeoHyun is unresponsive at all. Mr.Seo who tries to regain his composure turns to the members to find out the truth.

Mr.Seo: Who are you guys?

YongHwa: We're singers in a band called C.N.Blue. You may not have heard of us, but SeoHyun is currently our manager. She lives with us now.

Mr.Seo: She lives with you 4 boys?! *shocked*

YongHwa: Yes. Although I'm not really sure why she wants us to keep this a secret from both of you when she was hospitalised before, I know she doesn't want you both to know she stays with us.

Mr.Seo: So? She was like this because of YOU GUYS? *starting to flame up*

YongHwa: No! Please calm down, Mr.Seo. This morning, SeoHyun received a letter. It sounds like something from a secret admirer, but I'm not sure. All I know is, after reading that letter, SeoHyun-shii has totally turned into a different person. She locked herself in her room and hide under her covers. She was afraid of something. Then, she ran out of the dorm without the knowledge of me and JongHyun here. Eventually, I found her at Muchangpo Beach. She was...

Mr.Seo: WHAT?!

YongHwa: She was drifting away to the big ocean. If I found her a little too late, I don't think anybody could have saw her anymore.

Mr.Seo: Oh my God... By any chance, do you know who the letter is from?

YongHwa: From a person called CS?

Mr. Seo: Yeobo... *looking at Mrs.Seo*

Mrs.Seo: Would it be that person? *her eyes glaring in anger*

Mr.Seo: I don't know... but my heart tells me that it is.

C.N.Blue: Who is it...?

Mrs.Seo: THAT MONSTER! *screaming*

After Mr. and Mrs. Seo had calmed down a little, C.N.Blue member tried explaining what SeoHyun does as their manager and her life in these few months. They explained to her that they all live in separate rooms, so she does not need to sleep with a guy. Lastly, YongHwa told Mr.Seo that the doctor had referred SeoHyun to a psycologist to understand her problem better.

Mr.Seo: A psycologist?

YongHwa: Yes, ajusshi. I think she needs it.

Mr.Seo: I think I will need to have a talk with the psycologist before they start any therapies.

YongHwa: Okay... Ajusshi, I think Hyun is in safe hands now. My members and I need to go to our schedules now. We couldn't possibly abandon our jobs otherwise SeoHyun might be blamed and involved in conflict. We will come back later once we finish our schedule. Please don't worry yourself too much.

Mr.Seo: Yes... thank you very much. I appreciate everything that you all had done for her. Please continue with your work.

With a heavy heart, the C.N.Blue members, especially YongHwa left SeoHyun with her parents. YongHwa did not understand the fear that was haunting SeoHyun. She practically blocked out all communications with the outside world and cut herself off from reality. Did she feel safe enough in her own cocoon? But, who was there to understand the feelings of Jung YongHwa? Who is there to feel the the fear lingering in his heart? His fear of losing SeoHyun forever, even though she is just right in front of him moments ago. He didn't want to leave her side, even for a second. But... what more did he know?

What more can he do for her?
